OVERVIEW

The Asian Conference for Lactic Acid Bacteria (ACLAB) is a biannual event which is one of the activities facilitated by the Asian Federation of Societies for Lactic Acid Bacteria (AFSLAB). Each of the member countries of AFSLAB takes turn to host this event. In 2015, Thailand is honoured to host the 8th ACLAB which will be held on 8th – 10th July 2015 at the Emerald Hotel, Bangkok. This conference is organised by a group of Thai scientists who are working in the field of lactic acid bacteria and the Department of Biotechnology of the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Kasetsart University.

The objective of the conference is to provide the opportunity for researchers from academia and industry to assemble and discuss and exchange the latest research information on the roles and industrial applications of lactic acid bacteria.

The event will be conducted in English and will focus on the topic “Health, Sustainability, Friendly Environment and Application” and is extended to cover prebiotics and probiotics area by a symposium on “Prebiotics and Probiotics, Health Benefits and Applications” and a special afternoon session by the International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISAPP). The pre-conference on “Microbiota as a Future Medical Tool for Better Health” is another attractive session that will undoubtedly make this event more fruitful.

The scope of the conference includes, but is not limited to, the following topics:

• Gut microbiota and host interaction
• Application of lactic acid bacteria and related product
• Molecular genetics and innovation in lactic acid bacteria
• Symposium on “Prebiotics and Probiotics, Health Benefits and Applications”
